In 2000, Gail Bancroft, Steve Bain and Shelley & Nigel Phipps never imagined that their Georgetown Dinner Dance would become the signature Georgetown event that it is today. The Dinner Dance was initially created to raise vital funds for cystic fibrosis research and care; a fatal lung disease that affected their children’s lives.

Today, attending the Georgetown Dinner Dance is like attempting to secure tickets to the Toronto Indy – everyone wants to go, but tickets are hard to come by and are sold out months in advance!

A milestone was hit on Saturday, April 18th, 2009 as the Georgetown Dinner Dance celebrated its 10th and final anniversary. Over 220 guests filled The Club at North Halton in Georgetown for the last time and enjoyed cocktails, exquisite fair, a silent and live auction and dancing to live music by “The Third Step”.

The event ended on a record note, with a 15% revenue increase, bringing the ten-year total to over $250,000 raised! A special thank you goes to event organizers; Gail Bancroft, Steve Bain and Shelley & Nigel Phipps. Your determination, dedication and passion has given hope to those affected by the disease and your dream of finding a cure or effective control for cystic fibrosis is within close reach.

The Georgetown Kinsmen Club hopes to continue this legacy and will host an event in April 2010 in Georgetown. Stay tuned for more details!
