Shannon Price's Success

Name: Shannon Price
Program: test
Picture of Shannon Price
Shannon Price has become a very important member of the Toronto & District family over the years. Shannon was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis as a baby and has spent over 30 years fighting this life long battle.

“When I was diagnosed, my parents were told that life expectancy was about 10. Growing up, I was never sure if I’d even make it to my 30’s.” Price said. “The fact that I have, and am doing well, is a direct result of work of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which funds vital CF research that leads to cutting-edge new treatments.”

Shannon frequently agrees to share the story of her personal battle with CF by speaking at various events and functions. Since she was a child, Shannon has been involved in a number of events and programs in support of the CCFF. From the CF Radio-thon and the Robbie International Soccer Tournament, to Shinerama kick-offs and third party events. After listening to Shannon speak, one cannot help but feel motivated to do all they can to help the CF cause.

“This (public speaking) has a whole new meaning for me now as an adult. Having this disease can sometimes make you feel powerless, but public speaking is something I can actually do - besides my annual fundraising - to feel like I’m making a difference.”

Not only does Shannon support spreading awareness of the cause, but she also helps raise significant funds for an illness she knows all too well. Shannon has been stomping at the annual CF walk since 2003, forming Shanni’s Little Stompers in 2005, Since that time Shannon and her teammates have raised over $122,000 for the Great Strides Walk.

In 2008, Shannon did a personal best and raised over $22,500 for the Great Strides Walk which earned her the prestigious title of Top Fundraiser across Canada. This honour also allowed Shannon to take a trip to Walk Disney World which she enjoy with her mother Kate and her sisters, Wendie and Kim during April 2009.

“The reasons why I do it have evolved over time, but they are always there. I believe that with greater awareness, comes increased funds, better treatments, and ultimately… our cure. That’s something I’m proud to be a part of.”

Shannon, thank you for being a leader, a fighter and an inspiration to everyone you meet. We are very lucky and blessed to have you a part of our team.
